This Crazy Life encompasses the poetic commonalities found in today's urban/inner city environments. The works depict an authentic viewpoint of "beauty through chaos" that seems so natural within the backdrop of urban struggle and growth. By interpreting their own personal realities through forms of portrait based photography, paint, and mixed media, these three artist are able to inform and contribute to a larger social understanding of urban culture through their contextual relationship with art.
Go to a real California swap meet or antique show and sure enough you're bound to see them (vintage California fruit crates). Maybe your friend's mom has a few or your grandfather kept some garage junk in one back in the day. Always dug the casual California vibes they imbued.
Been workin' steady on a new Innocnts zine featuring much of the crew, extended friends, and influences. Not sure when it's gonna be done (perhaps summertime) so here's a little sneak peak at a few of the pages thus far. Stay tuned.
Behind the scenes look at what hand making 100 art books looks like. The lovely Misa Chhan has been hustlin' on these amazing ESTARA books for the upcoming event at The MOCA Store || presented by Innocnts this Sunday (April 6th). Each book will be finalized by Teebs with drawings, handwritten text, extra details and side notes speaking on the songs and times gone into the making of the album. Everyone over here is really excited to share these books with you at MOCA on Grand Ave this Sunday!
The one night only Innocnts Garage Show went down last week with complete success. Good vibes and art were felt by all. DJ Alf Alpha kept the old school hip hop on point all night with De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, and Pharcyde tracks keeping the proper house party feeling intact. The fellas over at House Beer know what's up so it only seemed fitting to have them collaborate with us on this house show. All the art was sick and priced affordably so it wasn't a surprise to see quite a few pieces sold. Much appreciation to those that were able to make it out. And big thanks to Christian Garrido and Marco Zamora for taking pics!
South Bay savage Murk Lurks coming in hot with some solid illustration work. Stay tuned for some Murk work in an upcoming Innocnts group show next month. And check his Tumblr for more savageness in the mean time.
