THOMAS GATT /// VIETNAM EXPERIENCE

It’s difficult to use words to reflect my time in Vietnam, because Vietnam is not words. It’s a colour, a smell, a taste, a warmth. It is it’s own energy entirely. The best i can do to paint a picture of my experiences is through these images. Thought provoking in every way, Vietnam is a poem.

THOMAS GATT /// PHOTOGRAPHY ZINE

Our man down under Thomas Gatt returned last year from a 6 month travel around the globe. Along the way he trained his eye and camera onto some thoughtful compositions. The culmination resulting a limited zine release “By The Water” with various images from these travels. Came out pretty sick. Gander at more on Thomas’ website here.

Here’s what Thomas had to say:

So for starters I was born in Sydney and have lived here ever since. I left Australia in February of 2018 for Europe to travel alone for 3 months spent between Berlin, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Malta and Barcelona. From there I flew over to New York where my brother lives and spent another 3 months there. I completely immersed myself in my surroundings and set out almost every day to shoot as much as I could and experience the diversity of the city I was in. Almost a year later, I put together what I believed to be a selection of images that best represents my visual perception of that particular moment in time.

I find beauty in darkness.

For me each image serves as a memory, as a collection they serve as a reminder of the period in my life when I was 18 on the other side of the world. The Title, By The Water.”

“Sensitive people faced with the prospect of a camera portrait put on a face they think is the one they would like to show to the world... Every so often what lies behind the facade is rare and more wonderful than the subject knows or dares to believe.” – Irving Penn

FAMILIAR DIFFERENCES is a mixed grouping of young photographers whose work often entails the use portraiture as a means of depicting the world around them. Often, as active participants within the cultures they document, this grouping of young photographers is imbued with a sense of access and candidness that is unique and endearing to the work. Using various unmediated approaches, this forthright survey of early career photographers explores aspects of portraiture through formal and informal depictions of human experience.

LYON HERRON PHOTOGRAPHY

Ever met Lyon Herron? We bet you'd be stoked if you did! An all around great example of human being, surfer, friend, and cancer survivor. All those key personality traits lead to one heck of a life perspective so it's no surprise Lyon would gravitate towards documenting the beauties of life through the lens of photography. Lyon is 100 percent dedicated and now a days with all the over-night "photographers" inebriated with Insta-fame, that's something to take pride in. Lyon lives it. From motorcycle mayhem in the desert salt flats to swimming among cracking blue barrels at Pipe, Lyon is engaged and tuned in.

Stoked to have Lyon as an Innocnts Advocate.
