Innocnts In Australia

We recently got back from a month in Australia exploring the various points of interest and the meat pie phenomena. Happy to report back that Australia is indeed an amazing place filled with great vibes, cold beer, and warm sun. After renting a white van from the Venezuelan mafia (kidding just nick-name) we ventured all over the place in search of surf. We often found it but never managed to take pictures of it since we were too quick to get out in it. So here's a handful of iPhone images that should tell some sort of abstract story. The entire trip will be better documented through a forthcoming issue of Foam Symmetry set to drop sometime this summer. Stay tuned for more Innocnts in Australia stuff.

Lyon Herron Photography

Malibu native and around stand up guy, Lyon Herron has been quietly taking some great images. We've known the guy for some time now but didn't quite realize the extent of his skills behind the lens until somewhat recently. He's got a killer website that's updated regularly with both RVCA and Insight as recent clients. Stoked for Lyon and what's to come.

Tahitian Beauties // Lucien Gauthier

The travel narratives of European explorers who discovered Tahiti in the eighteenth century gave birth to the myth of a forgotten Eden. From Bougainville to Gauguin, many adventurous spirits would seek out her shores. In 1904, french born Lucien Gauthier, enchanted by the island, decided to become a photographer. The collection of images that he would assemble over the next 17 years illustrates the myth of a peaceable paradise. His work, which celebrates the beauty both of Tahitian women and of its verdant landscapes, expresses his personal vision of an ideal world.

Many of these images can be seen in his book Tahitian Beauties, put together by Serge Kakou, is available here.

RECAP // EMILY KNECHT // FEELINGS

Great opening with Emily Knecht last weekend. Solid turn out and good vibes all around. Feelings is a collection of 35mm film images that Emily has taken each time she cries over the span of 3 years. Her interest in sharing these images was to simply see how one would feel within a room full of her crying. There's no huge statement being made here just a very personal project being made unpersonal. Feelings by Emily Knecht remains up until June 10th so stop in if you're in the Echo Park area.
